Two Halves Gallery is working with the Arnett Library to put together an exhibition exploring aspects of fantasy. The fantastical is seen in many elements of literature and is present in everyday life. We are looking for pieces with a surreal, fantasy aspect that question reality as we know it.

Requirements:

Pieces should be no more than 24” high due to space restrictions.

Pieces may be 2 or 3 dimensional

Material should be appropriate for children, as the exhibit will be in the children’s section of the library.

Include your name, email, phone number, title of work, dimensions, and jpeg of your piece. You may submit up to 5 pieces.

Submissions are due by February 13

Here's an image of part of the space. The pieces will replace the posters on the walls.

STUDENTS UNLEASHED

October 26 - December 1st

An exhibition featuring sixteen University of Rochester student artists and their recent work ranging from nudes to contemporary found objects. All the works were selected to be in this exhibition by the Director of Exhibitions at the Memorial Art Gallery. These works were culled from a larger group featured at the Memorial Art Gallery's 76th Annual Clothesline Festival in September 2009.

We have just finished installing a new exhibit at the University of Rochester. It is in the hallway of Rush Rhees library when you enter from Library Rd. The exhibit features the work of 7 current students at the University of Rochester.

The opening reception will be Friday, November 6 from 6-9 pm.

Due to the short notice, we have extended the submission deadline for the clothesline festival until September 8.

Two Halves Gallery will be showcasing the work of local pre-professional artists in a booth at Clothesline this year. The gallery founders will be picking a selection of the pieces submitted to display in the booth.

All mediums are accepted, however, if you are submitting a work on paper please matte or frame it to protect the piece.

Submissions are due to the Sage Art Center matting room at the University of Rochester by September 5.

Works selected to be shown in the festival will also be placed in the Gleason Library hallway at the University of Rochester for a brief exhibition.
